The main reason to go this far is to visit the 450 year old Dhoongri Temple dedicated to Goddess Hadimba. It has unique wood carvings. Other attractions include the Tibetan Monastery, the majestic Beas River and Jagatsukh, the ancient capital of Manali. At walking distance, you'll find the hot water springs of Vashist, the beautiful Brighu Lake and other equally spectacular sights.

Hire Motorcycles / Bikes One can hire motorcycles of Enfield Bullet or Yamaha motorcycles and scooters from Manali, to visit places in the surroundings as well as some local sights. Foreigners who want to hire a motorcycle have to deposit their air ticket or the equivalent value of the bike in dollars as a security deposit. Apart from that, they also have to hand in a Xerox Copy of their licence and proof of a permanent address. The normal charges are 300 Rs for a Yamaha Bike, 350 Rs for an Enfield Bullet and 400 Rs for 500cc Yamaha Bikes. 500cc Bikes are available for 5 days. Bikes and Scooters can be hired for 8 hours.
